About Tamarindo

Tamarindo has become very multicultural over the years while keeping the charming essence of the local culture. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés and bars to check into and it is an avid destination for ambient night life. Tamarindo Bay has some of the most tranquil currents on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, it is considered one of the safest beaches for practicing water sports: surfing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking and boogie-boarding. Other amazing activities to do in Tamarindo area are catamaran sunset cruise, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, sport fishing, ATV adventure, horseback riding, golfing, and boat tours to the Tamarindo estuary. Tamarindo is also located close to several amazing beaches to explore like Langosta, Avellanas, Negra, Playa Grande, Flamingo and Conchal. There are several National Parks located 2-3 hours away if you want to have a nature experience; Río Celeste in the rain forest, Palo Verde, for a boat safari focused on wildlife observation, Rincón de la Vieja volcano for a hike in the forest, a cold swim in amazing waterfalls, relax in the natural hot springs and mud baths or take a turn at a zip lining adventure.

  • Special Moments for Our Holiday

Casa Hilltop, Tamarindo, Costa Rica, was stunning with its spacious rooms, each offering fantastic ocean and estuary views. The infinity pool, changing colored lights, and sunset view were gorgeous. The outdoor bar and pool area, along with an in-pool table for playing cards & games, were fantastic. We enjoyed a memorable birthday dinner under the stars, thanks to the amazing chefs arranged by Sonia. The Eco Tour with lunch and rum tasting added special moments to our holiday. Being within a 10-minute walk from Tamarindo added to Casa Hilltop's appeal, providing convenient access to the town's oceanfront atmosphere, charming shops, excellent restaurants, and engaging events. It certainly was a terrific family experience. I’ll be back soon!

  • Words Almost Escape Me

Costa Rica has been on my bucket list for several years and I finally went with my friends who arranged our stay at Casa Hilltop and I have to say I was gobsmacked at the sheer luxury of the place. As a retired flight attendant, I’ve stayed in some pretty fancy hotels and I won’t say that this house was right up there with the best of them because it was even better! The pool, the view, words almost escape me…it was magical! The bedrooms faced the balcony where you could watch the sunrise on the left and the sunset on the right. Every morning white egrets would fly past and every evening they’d fly back by from the other direction. A flock of colorful parrots flew by a few times as well and one day they settled into a nearby tree…I ran for my camera and caught them just as they decided to move on. You could hear the howler monkeys every morning and sometimes at sunset. I never wanted to leave. The location is near beaches, shops, and restaurants if you feel so inclined but the huge kitchen had everything including an industrial-sized fridge, freezer, gas range, and beautiful BBQ area. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and care went into the furnishing and artwork in Casa Hilltop (btw it really is located at the top of the hill!) many of which were made by local artists. The house itself was beautifully designed and to my critical eye, I don’t think any shortcuts were taken in the building of it. Costa Rica prides itself on its wildlife and wild places of which there are many and tours are available to take you there all arranged thanks to Sonia. I’m definitely going back.

  • Spacious Enough For a Large Group

We stayed at Casa Hilltop and the property is beautiful. It’s spacious enough that a large group can be together or find separate areas for quiet time. It’s well-appointed with everything you need, including a wonderful outside seating area with a bar. The infinity pool was my highlight, not only lounge chairs and a table right in the pool but that view…my favourite place to hang out! The location is great with only a 5-minute walk to the beach or main shopping street. And the concierge, Sonya, is an absolute gem. Can’t wait to return!

  • Beautiful Lighted Infinity Pool

Casa Hilltop is nothing short of luxurious. The attention to detail in the design & furnishings is very evident. Each of the large 4 bedrooms on the upper floor has a spectacular view over the tropical forest to the ocean. The full-size laundry on the upper floor plus another closer to the pool is a real bonus. The fully stocked kitchen was beautiful & very functional with industrial-sized appliances, a huge island which allowed all 9 adults to participate in preparing meals & a dining area with table and chairs which would easily accommodate up to 12 people.

Among the highlights of Casa Hilltop were the beautiful lighted infinity pool and wonderful lounging area with ocean views, amazing sunsets, an outdoor kitchen, a lounge and a huge dining area. We really enjoyed playing cards at the table in the pool sheltered by the large custom sunshade. I particularly also enjoyed having an early morning coffee and exercising in the adjoining fully stocked outdoor covered lounge. The location of Casa Hilltop is worth noting. While high on the hill with privacy & unobstructed views, it is an easy walk to Tamarindo's lively town centre, restaurants & beautiful beaches. This private villa offered us the perfect blend of luxurious accommodation, stunning views and a peaceful retreat.

  • Exceeded Our Expectations

During our recent visit to Tamarindo, my wife, her sister, her husband, and I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Hilltop. It was my first time in Tamarindo, and we decided not to rent a car. The Casa Hilltop concierge arranged seamless airport transportation, even arranging for a stop at a local supermarket for our convenience and our driver was wonderful. Tamarindo, nestled by the ocean, offered beautiful weather, stunning sunsets, and warm ocean water. We enjoyed a mix of activities, from leisurely beach walks and souvenir shopping to happy hours at beachside restaurants, savoring delicious food. We experienced a sense of safety while strolling around, and the local residents and workers exhibited genuine kindness, making us feel warmly welcomed. Without renting a car, we relied on Uber for transportation, or at times, taking in the scenic 10-minute walk to the beach, often spotting howler monkeys along the way. Casa Hilltop exceeded our expectations, earning our description of being one step removed from a castle. The new house located in a secure gated community, provided an unobstructed 270-degree view of the city and ocean. The two-level house featured upper four primary bedrooms with full bathrooms, large beds, and ocean views either from your bed or the veranda. The lower level boasted a spacious restaurant-grade kitchen, an outdoor BBQ area, and a delightful outdoor space by the pool with a large TV with surround sound. The highlight was the breathtaking infinity pool with its perfect temperature, ocean views, and sunsets which made it irresistible at all times of the day and evening. Needless to say, we're eager to go back.

  • An Amazing Experience

Casa Hilltop is the best vacation house ever! The infinity pool was breathtaking, and we enjoyed many margaritas on the lounge chairs in the pool! The infinity pool is the best spot to watch the sunset in all of Tamarindo as it’s so high up with unobstructed views overlooking the ocean and ecological reserve. Bird watching from the pool and outside deck was extraordinary.

The location is ideal, it’s only 5 minutes from downtown Tamarindo and it costs us $5 to take an Uber to and from downtown. The Ubers came within 5 minutes all week, so we were never waiting too long to get picked up. The house is in a gated community that has security checking each car in and out. To get into the community you need to provide an ID & license plate. We got to know Carlo at the front gate, and we felt very safe the entire time. The house front entrance is also gated, and each room has door locks and there is a safe in each room where we stored our valuables. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Stunning bathrooms with infinity shower heads and incredible views. It felt like a 5-star + hotel. We enjoyed our coffee each morning from the patio overlooking the pool deck and ocean. Each room has its own coffee maker and there is also a laundry room in case you need to do laundry. The kitchen is a chef’s dream, it was fully stocked with spices, plates, and all the cooking utensils you could need. Outside there is an outdoor kitchen and dining area with a pizza fire oven and BBQ. The house has air conditioning and a beautiful outside living room with a TV & amazing speaker system. There is also an outside bar with a bar fridge. The way the pool lights up at night is incredible! There was also pool staff that came regularly while we were there, so the pool was always maintained and clean.

Tamarindo is such a fun vacation spot, it has awesome restaurants, beach, bars & shopping. We saw multiple fire dancers & live music. Everything is within walking distance. Our favorite restaurants were Dragonfly, Pangas & El Be. One night there were monkeys above us in the trees at Pangas while we were having dinner and watching the sunset.

Casa Hilltop’s concierge manager, Sonja was very helpful. When we first arrived, she arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport. Then Sonja met us at the house when we arrived in Tamarindo. She did a tour and went over all the house details. We didn’t arrive until around 10 pm so she ordered us Tacos from Little Luchas which were delicious. She also assisted us in booking a boat cruise catamaran & mangroves tour where we saw monkeys and crocodiles. Both were very fun! She helped us set up private at-home massage appointments overlooking the infinity pool. The massage was fabulous, and they were very professional. She helped provide suggestions on things to do during our trip and she knew all the best companies & excursions.

Overall, it was an amazing experience staying at this high-end vacation rental. Perfect for large groups as it's big enough to accommodate 12 people easily and not feel cramped. We would love to visit again, and you will not regret booking this house!
